Understanding the connection between your eyes and brain
Neuro-ophthalmology focuses on conditions affecting the visual system and the parts of the nervous system that control vision and eye movements. Although the eyes may look healthy on a routine examination, problems involving the optic nerves, visual pathways, eye-movement nerves or brain can sometimes cause changes in vision. A neuro-ophthalmic assessment helps us determine where a problem may be occurring and whether further investigation or treatment is needed. Our assessment combines a detailed eye examination with neurological assessment where appropriate. Depending on your symptoms, additional tests such as visual field testing, OCT imaging, blood tests or MRI may be recommended.
